Save our clubhouse

The Issue

The Issue
For many of us who chose to live in this community, the clubhouse wasn't just an amenity; it was a promise of companionship, support, and a sense of belonging. Residents in our neighbourhood invested not just in homes but in a community. We believed that by living here, we'd have a place to connect with friends, share life stories, and feel safe. Without this vital hub, many of our elderly residents, who already face numerous challenges, stand to lose much more than just a building—they risk losing their mental and emotional networks, vital for their well-being.

The community clubhouse serves as a lifeline, especially for our elderly residents who are at risk of isolation and loneliness. Statistics show that social interaction significantly affects the well-being of seniors, reducing feelings of depression and anxiety. In fact, according to research published by Age UK, staying socially active can enhance quality of life and even extend lifespan. The absence of the clubhouse jeopardizes this social fabric, putting our senior community members at risk.

It's not just about preserving a building; it's about saving a place where memories are made, and lives are touched. Haulfryns Ltd have applied to Hart council for demolition of our well structured clubhouse to put 7 new park homes in place.  under the guise of 'development,' but the true cost will be the community spirit and vitality that this clubhouse fosters. There are alternatives to demolition that can be explored. Renovating the structure or finding another location for development could be viable solutions that allow both progress and preservation.

We urge our local council and Haulfryns Ltd to reconsider the decision and explore these alternatives. Our residents deserve a place where they feel at home, where their emotional and social needs are met. Let us not strip away their right to community and connection.

Your support can make a difference. Please sign this petition to save our beloved clubhouse and preserve the heart of our community for future generations.
