In a breathtaking display of utter contempt for the Canadian Constitution and our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the 7,000 Ontarians who signed the Stop Psychotherapy Takeover Petition and the several hundred who wrote to their MPPs, Minister Hoskins has made it painfully clear that he has no intention of addressing his Ministry’s violations of our basic freedoms and health care choices. In the past 8 months, the Minister has: • refused to respond to two legal letters sent to him over 9 months, requesting he repeal the offending legislation… or to at least postpone proclamation until protective legislation for traditional, holistic, energy, hypnosis and spiritual care practitioners is also installed. • failed to meet his own April 24th, 2015 deadline to contact Stop Psychotherapy Takeover’s legal representative, with no further word, explanation or apology. • recently proclaimed the Psychotherapy Act (one of 3 related offending legislations), without notice, thereby giving the new College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) full prosecution powers… and advising the public only 10 days AFTER the proclamation that he did so. • made it clear he has no intention of repealing or amending the legislation and no intention of rectifying this dangerous situation that eliminates some 10-15,000 jobs just at a time when Ontario is ‘diving’ into depression and massive unemployment. Because other regulatory Colleges are up in arms about this legislation, particularly the RHPA amendment that makes the treatment of all human issues a controlled act of psychotherapy, the Minister has asked the new College to ‘clarify’ the ‘controlled act of psychotherapy’ legislation... As though ‘clarifying’ the removal of freedoms is going to make it moral and ethical! The Minister didn’t instruct the College to communicate with those who have the largest stake in this takeover–holistic practitioners and the public—because, it seems, as far as he is concerned, we don’t matter… As long as the other Colleges are appeased, the rest of us are simply collateral damage in the takeover of our democracy by pharmaceutical company interests and his medical cartel friends. Research indicates that as early as 1999-2000, the Coalition of Mental Health Professionals advised the government that the planned legislation was morally and ethically wrong on all levels and would definitively and systematically deprive thousands of practitioners of their livelihoods. While one Coalition was stating the obvious, the Fraser Institute was publishing the results of its detailed study named ‘Unnatural Regulation’ on the safety of, and public trust in, natural and traditional treatments, making it clear that regulation was unnecessary! http://www.fraserinstitute.org/research-news/display.aspx?id=13571 Meanwhile, some research is showing that medical treatment may now be the #1 disabler and killer of Canadians…and that’s based only on VOLUNTARY admission of harm, since the reporting of adverse treatment reactions has never been mandatory. Controlled acts are supposed to regulate RISKY treatments, yet now a controlled act provision is being used to regulate SAFE treatments to finalize the takeover of the entire healthcare system by the medical/pharmaceutical cartel. Instead of increasing access to the natural therapies that save taxpayers some $7-10 billion annually in health care costs, the Minister has now not only given nurses drug prescribing privileges, but he has participated in the elimination of non-drug healthcare choices from Ontario. He is ensuring that the medical/pharmaceutical cartel is in a position of monopoly, placing the public at even more risk of death and disability. This is legislative abuse, pure and simple, and any elected official who permits, aids and abets in this sort of harm to our democracy should resign. Isn’t it time we demanded the resignation of the Minister of Health? You contributed so that we could commission the necessary Legal Opinion for release to all natural and traditional healthcare providers… As a result, we have set in motion the steps necessary to challenge this in the Courts.
