Save Nantucket Harbor from toxic runoff from sewers and fertilizers!

The Issue

Many don't know that Nantucket's fertilizer use is harming our harbor. Not only the water quality but the ecosystems that thrive in the Nantucket harbor. The population of Eelgrass is decreasing because of the toxic chemicals thrown in the Nantucket harbor. Eelgrass is a natural resource that this island uses. Without this resource, our island's economy will shatter. Harmful Algal Blooms are forming in our harbors soficating and killing the eelgrass. An example of this happening is the red tide that occurred in Florida from 2017-2019, which killed nearly 600 sea turtles, over 200 manatees, and 204 dolphins. However, there are fertilizer guidelines for companies that aren't enforced enough making it a main cause of this problem.
