Save my brother David and Javier: unjustly jailed, risking death in Equatorial Guinea
El problema
For over nine months, David Rodríguez and Javier Marañón, two Spanish citizens, have been imprisoned without charges at Black Beach prison in Equatorial Guinea. They were arrested after attending a meeting called by the authorities, representing their company, which is under investigation for corruption in the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) project.
Neither of them holds a management position nor has any responsibility in corporate decisions. They are innocent workers paying for the actions of others.
The conditions they endure are inhumane: total isolation, no visits, no medical care, and no access to adequate food.
Javier has lost 20 kilos, is in critical condition, and his life is in serious danger. David is also severely ill.
Their families are desperate, unable to communicate or send any help. The situation is at its breaking point.
Despite efforts from their loved ones, appeals to the Spanish Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy, the Royal Household, and other international organizations, no real progress has been achieved.
The Spanish Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs continue to take no effective action, leaving everything in the hands of the embassy, which has no real power in Equatorial Guinea.
The European Parliament has passed an urgent resolution demanding their release, but we need public pressure for the Spanish Government to act decisively and immediately.
Sign this petition to help us demanding the Government of Spain to intervene directly with the President of Equatorial Guinea.
We cannot wait any longer. Every day counts. David and Javier could die if we don’t act now. Help us save their lives!
