SAVE MUSIC ROOM LONDON

New Cross Gate, SE14

Your local rehearsal space is under threat from developers – Save Music Room London - please read this now!

For over 25 years, Music Room London has been a vibrant rehearsal and performance space in South East London. We now face the biggest threat to our existence from a development partnership between the London Borough of Lewisham and Grainger LLP.

324 flats in high storey buildings next to the Music Room are planned, with open windows and balconies facing directly onto our music studios. Before long, as other music venues have found out to their cost, there will be complaints and legal action from the new residents to restrict the use of the Music Room. The result -we could be forced to close, taking out yet another live music venue.

Is there a solution? Yes, there certainly is. And it’s a simple one, allowing the housing to be built and for Music Room to continue. It’s a ‘win, win’ for everyone.

We want Lewisham Council to add a condition on planning permission so that we have a ‘Deed of Easement’. This is what Ministry of Sound agreed with Southwark, The George Tavern with Tower Hamlets and The Stables with Milton Keynes, so it can be done. We have asked Lewisham to listen to our request but they refused to respond.

The Deed will allow us and our new neighbours to co-exist together, and will guarantee that Music Room London can continue for decades to come.

We are asking for your help. Without rehearsal space, music is at risk.

Please sign the petition to ask Lewisham Council for a Deed of Easement condition. We only have until 10 January 2020 to respond.
