On August 10, 2024, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro announced the long rumored Monsters Inc door coaster coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney released two pieces of concept art for the attraction which fans started to notice had distinct differences between them. One of the pieces seemed to place the attraction in the mostly abandoned Animation Courtyard area of the park and the other in place of Grand Avenue and Muppets Courtyard.

Muppet*Vision 3D opened in 1991 and has major historical significance. It was one of Jim Henson's last projects he directed and acted in before his passing in 1990. Jim Henson is regarded as one of the most influential and beloved creators in American entertainment history.
