Help us save our Kindergarten classroom being taught by our beloved Ms. Galindo, an outstanding teacher at Topanga Elementary Charter School! Her commitment to our children is unwavering even as district standards continue to increase, she has risen to the challenge time and time again. She is an inspiration and a magnet for families drawn to her caring, nurturing style and her attentiveness to student development.

However, this beacon of learning could soon be dimmed. LAUSD Norm's Day threatens to collapse her class due to district cuts. This change will effect 30% of our schools students! 

Our school, home to just over 200 precious learners, struggles with under-enrollment for reasons that are outside our control. Our school has been dealing with the following challenges:

• Road Closures from March - June 2024
• Ongoing construction on Topanga Canyon Blvd.
• Limited access one way in and one way out
• Weather related closures (4 days during 23-24 school year)
• Mudslides and Rockslides
• Power Outages 

 We recognize that our location, particularly in inclement weather, can make accessibility challenging. Yet, we firmly believe that this is no reason to deny our children, the quality education they deserve by LAUSD and keep our class sizes small. 

The district must understand the unique circumstances of our school and allocate enough funds. They must see it as an opportunity to help this community school stay open. The dedication that Ms. Galindo brings to her Kindergarten class sets the standard for effective teaching, proving that love, care, and individual attention can drive academic success, even in the face of increasing district demands.

Our Demands:

1) Allow Topanga Elementary Charter School to have smaller class sizes due to remote location and logistic challenges.

2) Allow us extra time to increase enrollment - extension until January 2025

3) Redistrict neighborhoods to feed into TECS specifically Top O'Topanga and Viewridge

This is a plea, a call to action to safeguard the future of our children's class and school, by keeping them together this school year with their leader, Ms. Galindo. Save Ms. Galindo's kindergarten class.
