We need to save a teacher who is in danger of displacement at Atwater Ave ES.  Parents are just hearing that Ms. Contreras, one of the most impactful teachers at Atwater Ave. Dual Language Elementary, MAY (not confirmed by the school) be displaced due to under-enrollment. This decision is impacting our whole school community and we have been left out of the conversation and hope to have our voices heard.

This teacher has been not only amazing for the kids socially and emotionally, but the math scores have risen almost 30 points since she joined the 3rd grade team.

Our community was not told of this potential loss until today and are trying to think of everything we can do so our community doesn't lose this teacher. We need your support. 

At the end of the year last year one parent wrote the following about Ms. Contreras to the principal about her child's experence: 

Ms. Contreras is an exceptionally gifted and dedicated teacher. She is patient, kind, and energetic in the classroom. She sparked my child's curiosity and re-engaged him in learning. She is a huge asset to Atwater Elementary. 

My child's time in Ms. Contreras' classroom has been utterly restorative, and I have heard the same from the parents of his classmates. He has more confidence in his abilities, gets excited about his schoolwork, and feels a real connection to his teacher and community. He is doing better in math and his grades more accurately reflect his abilities. Most importantly, he likes school and knows that he is a smart and capable student. 

I can honestly say that I've never encountered such an exceptional teacher. We are deeply grateful to Ms. Contreras for the work she does in the classroom.
