The Issue

Mrs. Archer has not only helped me excel as a student in her class, but she has supported me emotionally as a person and helped me grow. She has always supported me in reaching my full potential and is a positive force for all the students in our school. Just like many other dedicated teachers in East Lyme, Mrs. Archer is now at risk of losing her job due to proposed cuts to the education budget. And she doesn’t deserve this.

Recently, the town of East Lyme has considered reducing funds allocated to the education budget. This decision threatens to impact not just Mrs. Archer, but numerous other passionate and hardworking teachers who are vital to our community. Our teachers are more than just educators; they are mentors, role models, and supporters who dedicate their time and energy to shaping the future leaders of our society.

According to the National Education Association, well-funded schools offer numerous benefits including smaller class sizes, diverse extracurricular programs, and personalized support for students. Cutting funding from the education budget risks not only teachers' livelihoods but also diminishes the quality of education that impacts every child in the community.

The future of our students is directly linked to the investment we make in our schools. Let's take a stand to ensure that teachers like Mrs. Archer continue to inspire, educate, and make a difference. Education should be a priority, not an option.

Sign this petition to urge the East Lyme Town Council to reconsider the proposed budget cuts to education and protect the quality of education for the students of East Lyme, CT.
