Yesterday we held a small commemoration ceremony to celebrate the designation of the post oaks known as the Three Sisters of Montrose as historic trees by the Texas Historic Tree Coalition. It was a beautiful day and a happy event!
Hopefully this will encourage the TIRZ to do as we have requested all along: apply for a variance from the city so they do not have to build a sidewalk on the west side of this block (which doesn't have one now), and can save these historic landmarks.

VERY IMPORTANT! Please mark your calendars for the next TIRZ public board meeting on Monday March 18, 6:30pm at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on W Alabama. Every citizen has the opportunity to speak to the board for up to 3 minutes to ask questions or give opinions about the TIRZ plans. You may also attend via zoom by registering for the meeting on the TIRZ website. They often don't announce the meetings (or changes to their locations or dates) until the last legally required moment so please register on the TIRZ website (www.montrosehtx.org to receive updates about their meetings.
You are also encouraged to come speak up to the new Mayor and City Council who listen to public speakers at City Council meetings every Tuesday at 2pm. Sign up by emailing citysecretary@houstontx.gov before 3pm on the Monday before the meeting. Bring your ID to the main City Hall building on Bagby. ago through the metal detector and check in at the front desk to get a badge. Then proceed up the elevator to the 2nd floor where the City Council meets. It's an interesting experience for any citizen to do at least once. Make your voice and opinion known!
