Save Missionary Ridge Trail’s Natural Buffer and Wildlife

Save Missionary Ridge Trail’s Natural Buffer and Wildlife
The Issue
We, the residents and supporters of the Missionary Ridge Trail area in Fort Worth, ask the City of Fort Worth and Transportation & Public Works to review and reconsider the proposed alignment of the East Bailey Boswell Road extension behind our homes.
This is not just a road issue. It is a neighborhood safety, family, and quality-of-life issue.
The proposed roadway would place a high-traffic corridor directly behind established homes, bringing constant noise, headlights, dust, traffic activity, and loss of privacy into private family spaces. Many families in this neighborhood have children, and there are already very limited parks, walking areas, and safe open spaces nearby. For many of us, our backyards are the main safe place where children can play outside, ride bikes, and spend time outdoors.
The undeveloped land behind Missionary Ridge Trail also serves as an important natural buffer. It helps reduce noise, protects privacy, filters pollution, and supports wildlife movement connected to the Big Fossil Creek area. Residents have regularly seen deer, birds, and other wildlife using this corridor.
We are asking the City to:
• evaluate alternative alignments farther from existing homes,
• preserve the natural buffer behind Missionary Ridge Trail,
• conduct a full environmental review before major decisions move forward, and
• hold a community meeting with affected residents.
We support responsible infrastructure planning, but it must not come at the expense of established families, children’s safety, neighborhood privacy, and the natural character of our community.
