We have just left NAC Cabinet meeting at which lengthy consideration and discussion took place about the future of Millport Pier and Flood defences as a result of the Save Millport Pier Petition which so many of you have signed. In light of the information provided with the petition NAC have agreed that a new pier will be considered, within off shore breakwaters, in drawing up future plans for the flood defences and this will become one of the potential options. Of particular importance NAC have also agreed that they will now include further investigation into the risk /cost / benefits associated with maintaining, or not maintaining the existing pier in the meantime.
