We, the parents, caregivers, and residents of Parramatta, are calling on the City of Parramatta Council to renew the contract for Mike (from Adventure Kids Entertainment) to continue hosting the weekend children's story time sessions.

For a long time, Mike has been running the Saturday and Sunday 10:30 am to 11:00 am story and song sessions at Parramatta Library. He has a rare and wonderful gift for engaging toddlers and young children. His sessions are packed every single weekend because kids genuinely love them, and parents rely on this fantastic, high-energy program to build our children's early literacy and social skills.

We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn that the library is abruptly ending his contract, making this weekend his final appearance. Mike is completely willing and eager to continue serving our community.

When beloved, highly successful community programs are cut without community consultation, it is the local families who suffer.

Why this matters:

Early Education: Mike makes reading and library visits fun for  young children, fostering a lifelong love of learning.

Community Connection: His weekend sessions bring dozens of local families together, creating a vital support network for parents in Parramatta.

Quality Service: Finding a storyteller who can consistently hold the attention of a room full of toddlers is incredibly rare. We shouldn't lose the best one we have.

Our Demand: We urge the Parramatta Library Management and the City of Parramatta Council to listen to the families who use this space. Please reverse this decision and reinstate Mike’s contract immediately so our kids don't lose their favorite weekend activity.
