Our beloved Middlesbrough Leisure Park, which houses our only town cinema, is in jeopardy. This is more than just a commercial space; it is a memory lane for generations of families, a monument that stood tall for the past 24 years, serving as the beating heart of our community's entertainment.

Our concerns have grown deeper as other businesses around the cinema are also under threat. Losing them would mean losing an integral part of our town's identity and social fabric. The closure of the cinema jeopardizes the continued vibrancy of the area which was once a bustling spot with bustling businesses.

With the decline in foot traffic that this closure may bring, it could hasten the downfall of the whole Leisure Park area, causing a significant blow to Middlesbrough's economy and community spirit. The film industry already faces significant challenges, with the UK Cinema Association reporting a 75% drop in attendance in 2020 (source: UK Cinema Association).

We cannot stand by and watch these cherished institutions perish. We are calling on the local authorities, policymakers, and the business community to intervene and salvage Middlesbrough's only cinema and the surrounding Leisure Park.
