Tomorrow marks the final day Miami Seaquarium will open its doors to the public.
But for the nearly 600 animals still living there — dolphins, sea lions, seals, penguins, flamingos, birds, sharks, and fish — this isn’t the end. It’s the start of an uncertain future.
Many of these animals are elderly and have lived their entire lives at the park.
Rushed relocation without a transparent, science-based plan could cause unnecessary stress, illness, or even death.
In just one week, almost 5,000 people have signed this petition to ask Miami-Dade County and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to pause redevelopment until a humane, well-planned transition is in place.
That’s 5,000 voices standing together for compassion, transparency, and accountability.
The park may close its gates tomorrow — but our voices don’t stop here.
There is still a path forward — one where the animals can remain safely in their home without shows or entertainment, while the property is reimagined as a marine sanctuary and rescue center.
This would allow ongoing research, education, and rehabilitation — giving Miami a space where the community can still learn from and care for these incredible animals.
Thank you to every person who has signed, shared, and spoken up.
Please keep sharing the petition — every signature helps ensure these animals are not forgotten once the gates close. 💙
