SAVE MEDWAY AND GRAVESHAMS GREEN BELT

SAVE MEDWAY AND GRAVESHAMS GREEN BELT
The Issue
🛑 Stop the Reclassification and Development of Green Belt Land in Medway and Gravesham 🛑
We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the proposed reclassification of green belt land in Medway and Gravesham and the approval of housing developments on it.
Chapter farm is one of the areas under threat. This is productive farmland that has been in the same family for five generations. It is a cornerstone of our rural heritage and local food production — not a blank space to be filled with concrete.
If these proposals go ahead, we face:
The loss of irreplaceable green belt land, protected for a reason
The destruction of family homes and livelihoods tied to the land
Severe environmental impacts, including the destruction of ancient hedgerows, native habitats, and key wildlife corridors
The endangerment or displacement of local wildlife, including birds, birds of prey, foxes, hedgehogs ,bats, and more.
Greater strain on already overloaded infrastructure — schools, GP surgeries, roads, public transport, and drainage systems
Permanent damage to the character and wellbeing of our communities.
Medway and Gravesham’s green belt exists to protect open countryside, control urban sprawl, and preserve the natural environment for future generations.
Once it is lost, it is lost forever.
We urge Medway and Gravesham Councils to reject any attempts to reclassify or develop on this land. Sustainable development must not come at the cost of our natural environment, our heritage, and our homes.
Please sign this petition to help protect our green belt — and make your voice heard before it’s too late.
