We, the undersigned residents and patients, are calling on Hywel Dda University Health Board to keep Meddygfa’r Sarn GP Surgery in Pontyates open and providing local General Medical Services.

The Health Board has confirmed it is considering a recommendation to disperse patients to neighbouring practices from 30 June 2026. While no final decision has yet been made, this proposal would have a serious impact on our community.

Meddygfa’r Sarn provides essential, accessible healthcare for local families, elderly residents, and vulnerable patients. Dispersing patients to other surgeries would mean longer travel distances, reduced continuity of care, and increased pressure on already overstretched neighbouring practices.

We believe local GP services are vital to the health and wellbeing of Pontyates and the surrounding area. We urge Hywel Dda University Health Board to reject the proposed dispersal, properly consult patients and residents, and commit to keeping GP services at Meddygfa’r Sarn.

This decision has not yet been finalised — now is the time to listen to the community and protect local healthcare.
