Despite being listed now as an endangered species by the New York State, the Eastern Tiger Salamander was identified in the Nature Study conducted in this region.
However, construction of the mini railroad in Greenport proceeded regardless. Now, village officials are considering further development that may encroach upon additional habitats.
Before any decisions are made by the Mayor for affordable housing that could disturb natural habitats, it's imperative to raise questions about the potential impact. Were any recent studies conducted prior to the construction of the mini railroad?
If anyone possesses information regarding studies conducted since then, please come forward and share your insights.
