Activist Mark A. Lay tracked the remains of Foo Teng Nyong to an unmarked pauper's grave at Batu Gantong. An inglorious end for the wife of the biggest patron and philanthropist of his age. Chung Keng Quee endowed schools, hospitals and other charities and institutions. He demolished his own houses so that he could build and present to George Town two roads the town, as it then was, badly needed. This is how Penang honours and repays his generosity and benevolence. By desecrating and destroying the tomb he built his wife 138 years ago, and then dumping her remains in an unmarked pauper's grave far, far from where he intended for her to rest eternally. This cannot be allowed to stand.
