Thousands of livestock have drowned in the record breaking NSW and QLD floods. 

For our farmers, this is nothing new. After every major flood, vast numbers of livestock are swept away from their properties, often hundreds of kilometers off farm. 

This is why I am calling on the government to assist our farmers in building a safe place to hold their livestock during flood events. 

I have witnessed the cries of cattle being washed off their properties. With flooded roads preventing the rescue and relocation of livestock to higher ground, farmers are left with limited options. To end their suffering, they are often forced to euthanise their herds in vast numbers.

I am calling on the government to assist our farmers in building safe pens to hold their livestock during floods. A warning system must be developed by State governments, which alerts farmers to move their livestock to higher ground.
