Because of your voices, your signatures, your emails, your calls, and your advocacy, the New York State Department of Health has decided to expand ADAP coverage to include naltrexone beginning May 15, 2026.
This is a real victory.
People living with HIV who are struggling with substance use disorder will now have greater access to an evidence-based medication that can reduce relapse, support recovery, improve engagement in HIV care, and save lives.
To everyone who signed, shared, organized, amplified, and spoke up: THANKYOU!
Lets keep up the momentum and stay connected, follow me on Instagram @ColbyOutLoud - together our voices can make change!
A special thank you to ACT UP NY for their pivotal support, leadership, and advocacy in helping push this issue forward and bring attention to this critical gap in care.
But our work is not over. While we celebrate this victory, we are also facing devastating proposed 2027 federal budget cuts that would gut or eliminate programs including:
HOPWA housing support for approximately 55,000 people living with HIV
CDC HIV prevention funding
And other essential HIV and public health services
ACT UP NY continues to organize around these fights, including advocacy related to NYC Sexual Health Clinics, the Queer Liberation March, and community outreach at Pride events across the city.
📢 Stay informed. Stay involved. Stay loud.
