Save Liden & Covingham Libraries

Save Liden & Covingham Libraries
The Issue
We would like Swindon Borough Council take Liden & Covingham Libraries back into in house operation and restore proper library services.
Swindon Community Library Trust which is run by Councillor Dale Heenan has failed to generate an adequate income to sustain the libraries.
There are serious questions marks over the accounts & governance of the Library Trust and a lack of public accountability
Covingham Library has already closed and we are concerned that the Library trust is seeking to hand over Liden Library to Nythe, Eldene & Liden Parish Council.
The Parish Council has a poor record of compliance and would struggle to meet the costs of running the library.
Both libraries are valuable community resource used by local people of all ages.
The amount of money to save the library is small but an important community hub will be lost forever.
The news of the closure of Covingham Library was announced on Swindon Borough Council's website.
