There's a new permit application to cut down the trees at the lot at 3832 NE 155th St in Lake Forest Park for a new construction.

There are several problems with this:

1. Critical Area:
The land is on a critical landslide area and is on a steep  slope.

2. Few healthy trees:
There used to be 11 trees in the lot until 2015 and 8 of such trees have already been cut down by the previous owner of the land without any replacement. The arborist then and now believes that the remaining trees are healthy and do not need to be cut down. (See photos in update below).

3. Habitat: Over 20 species of birds and animals on the trees have been spotted by neighbors including an eagle and a black-backed woodpecker (video here) which are both on the endangered species list. Cutting these down would impact the wildlife in the area.

The permit application is pending with the city and we urge the city to deny this permit and have them alter their plan instead.

With the recent landslides in Bellevue and West Seattle in the last month, these events are becoming more common in the region and we don’t want LFP and all of our lives to be upended by anything like this.
