Cllr Bernard McGuin - Campaigning with Local Residents to Save Lepton & Fenay Bridge Greenspaces

Dear Local Residents,

Thank you all for signing my petition. 715 local residents have now signed "Save Lepton & Fenay Bridge from Development".

As your Almondbury Ward Councillor, I am up for Re-Election on Thursday May 6th. I hope I can count on your support, so I continue to campaign for you and local residents who are against Kirklees Labour Council allowing 851 houses to be built in Lepton & Fenay Bridge.

I visited and was shocked to see the site of Great Lepton Woods and spoke to local residents there who are equally upset. I have taken photos, highlighted it on Facebook, contacted the Examiner, been in touch with Kirklees Council and been in touch with the agent of the site, as well as received many emails and phone calls from local residents.. Dartmouth Estate near to Hermitage Park has had 4 trees with TPOs cut down which against the law and could end up with fines and court action. There has also many trees cut aggressively which could lead to the trees being diseased in the future then having to come down all together with no warning at all to me & local residents. At Great Lepton Woods hawthorn hedges have also been cut down which contain nesting birds which may also be protected. Local residents have also been evicted from the fields in an intimidating manner.
