Today is local election day.

The events of today will have a huge impact on the future of our Leicestershire, even more so than usual.

By tomorrow, one of two things will have happened:

1. Labour councillors form a majority at County Hall. 

For this to happen they will have to be mostly new councillors with no experience. They won’t have the capacity to say no to their established colleagues in Government and the City who have pledged to take over Leicestershire. The result will be more development and worse finances. Our campaign will likely fail.

2. Conservatives continue at LCC.

 Experienced councillors continue to run the County. Every Conservative candidate has pledged to stand firm and fight against the City takeover, doing whatever it takes. Beyond fighting the takeover, under the Conservatives, LCC has been independently rated the top council for performance, efficiency and value for money 3 years in a row. 

We really appreciate the messages we’ve had from supporters who have said they normally vote for another party, but at this election they are lending the Conservative candidate their support as this issue is just too important.
