The evolution of cellular networks has been ruining what truly matters to us. In fact, with the trend of dumb phones and digital minimalism, there is going to potentially be an increase in demand for legacy networks. Modern dumb phones have 2 main problems. Many dumb phones are actually not “dumb” because they contain advanced browsers, cameras, and other smart services. They are also made quite poorly, because for the majority, the phones are actually being made to be as cheap as possible for purchase in countries that don’t have lots of money. What we actually want and love is vintage phones. They are customizable, built to last (Nokia 3310,) and also have the tactile feeling and features we love, with the ones we don’t. So many legendary phones, such as the Nokia 3310/3390 and Ericsson r520m, are also being trashed and are no longer able to work, thus we are stuck with our current generation of phones. This is not about freeing spectrum, this is about those companies making PROFIT. 2g has better coverage, better energy efficiency and more benefits that overweigh the cons.  

Save our phones. Keep the networks up, or find another solution such as making new motherboards.
