Save LEAD Scholars Academy at UCF

Save LEAD Scholars Academy at UCF
The Issue
The LEAD Scholars Academy at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is being forcefully replaced with a water down version called "LEAD 2", resulting in the diminishing of a vital program that empowers students through leadership development, academic success, and community engagement. Established to nurture and cultivate the next generation of leaders, the LEAD Scholars Academy has been an integral part of the UCF community and has consistently supported students in realizing their potential.
This unique program provides first and second-year students at UCF with opportunities to enhance their leadership skills through dedicated coursework, service-learning initiatives, and leadership development workshops. It's not just an academic enrichment program; it’s a community where students learn to lead with integrity, set and achieve personal goals, and make significant contributions to society.
As of the current academic year, over 400 students participate annually in the LEAD Scholars program, building skills that will last a lifetime and increasing their engagement with the university and the broader community. The program boasts a retention rate and student satisfaction level that surpasses national averages for student involvement programs, proving its effectiveness and impact.
This program that has positively transformed many lives. The closure of the LEAD Scholars Academy would be a loss not just to the students presently benefiting, but to the entire future cohort of UCF leaders prepared to change the world.
We call upon the administration of University of Central Florida and stakeholders to recognize the immense value the LEAD Scholars Academy brings to our university and the community.
Support this petition to reaffirm our belief in nurturing future leaders through quality education and community engagement at UCF. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and help save the LEAD Scholars Academy!
