Save Lake Conroe
The Issue
Save Lake Conroe. Protect the standing fish and fowl habit structure on the North 1/3 of Lake Conroe, Texas
Lake Conroe in Conroe, Texas is the West Fork of San Jacinto River in Montgomery and Walker Counties with surface area of 20,118 acres. Due to the severe drought in Texas numerous areas of this lake are now subject to record low water, uncovering standing timber fish habitat structure. TPWD and SJRA plan to cut this structure in the North 1/3 of this reservoir, without the proper data impact studies to determine the damage this will do to some of the only standing structure left for this lakes fisheries. This reservoir boast some of the best fowl species including American Bald Eagles, some of the best specimens of fish, bass, crappie, catfish (blues and channels) and many more... TPWD's own biologist stated less than 2 yrs ago "Most of the ecologically functional shoreline habitat occurs in this section of the reservoir". The cutting and removal of standing timber tops needs to be stopped on the North 1/3 of this reservoir, the anglers, the wildlife watchers, the small boating community needs your help. Please help by signing our petition, our fish and fowl are depending on YOU!!!!!
