The Issue

Since the day we first opened our window to serve Swords, our family-run food truck, La Papessa Pizza & Deli, has been a cornerstone of the community. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into creating a place where everyone can enjoy delicious, high-quality food, and we pride ourselves on being an authentic alternative to the typical takeaway pizza.

For years, we’ve received overwhelming support from locals who have become more than just customers - they are our friends and family. Each visit to our food truck isn’t just about satisfying hunger; it is about sharing stories, sharing laughs, and building community.

However, the local county council has decided to shut down La Papessa Pizza & Deli. This decision has rocked our family and disheartened our loyal patrons. By closing our beloved food truck, a treasured piece of Swords will be lost.

Food trucks like ours are vital for local communities. According to food industry studies, mobile eateries stimulate local economies by providing jobs and boosting nearby businesses with increased foot traffic. Additionally, a University College Dublin study found that community-focused businesses significantly enhance neighbourhood cohesion. We decided to open in Fingal, not only because we are from here - but their moto is "A place to live, work, visit and do business." They're certainly making it hard for us.

Our food truck offers not just meals but memories. We host small events, and have become a gathering place for families and friends. To lose this would not just be a loss of business for us, but a loss of community for Swords.

You can help keep La Papessa Pizza & Deli Swords open. Reach out to our local council members and let them know how important this food truck is to you. Sign this petition to prevent an unnecessary shuttering of a beloved community staple. Your signature can make a difference, and together, we can ensure that La Papessa Pizza & Deli continues to serve the heart of Swords.
