AUSGRID KAMAY BESS - ITS TIME TO MAKE A SUBMISSION!

Now is our moment to stand up for Kurnell.

Nearly 1,600 people have signed our petition opposing further heavy industry and large-scale battery developments in Kurnell. Your support has shown how deeply people care about our community, our wetlands, our heritage and our future.

Now we need to take the next step.

The proposed Ausgrid Kamay Battery Energy Storage System is officially on public exhibition. Submissions close on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.

This is our opportunity to tell the NSW Government why a 150 MW battery facility does not belong close to homes, beside our only road in and out, near fuel storage and alongside internationally protected wetlands.

Your submission does not need to be long or technical. Simply explain, in your own words, why you object.

You may be concerned about:

• Battery fires, thermal runaway and toxic smoke
• Emergency response and Kurnell’s single evacuation route
• Continuous mechanical and low-frequency noise near homes
• The proposed facility’s proximity to existing fuel storage
• Contaminated firefighting water entering our wetlands and waterways
• The cumulative burden of heavy industry on Kurnell
• The protection of our Aboriginal, environmental and historical heritage
• The continued failure to respect the people who live in our community

Signing the petition helped build our collective voice. Making a formal submission places your concerns directly into the planning process.

Please do not assume someone else will speak for you. Every individual submission matters.

Kurnell is not empty industrial land. It is our home, our community and a place worth protecting.

Together, we can stand up for Kurnell.
