Urgent Protect Kurnell - Precinct Meeting Wednesday 16th July 2025 - 7.30pm

Dear Friends,
We’re calling on all residents of Kurnell and friends of Kurnell to attend a critical Precinct Meeting this Wednesday, 16th July at 7:30 PM in the Helm Room at the Kurnell Sports & Recreation Club, 160 Captain Cook Drive, Kurnell.
Kurnell is at a crossroads, and your voice is urgently needed.
What’s happening?
A new State Significant Development proposal — known as MOD 7 — is currently on public exhibition. The community has less than 14 days to respond.
This modification is not minor. If approved:
Ampol will no longer be required to remediate contaminated land — toxins will remain on site forever
As a result the land will instead be rezoned for permanent industrial use under the Kurnell Energy & Industry Precinct.
It will open the floodgates to more industrial development, including the proposed Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Canola Oil Refinery (or Sustainable Aviation Fuel SAF).
This isn’t just about one site — it’s about the long-term future of Kurnell. Approving MOD 7 means locking in industrial use for decades to come, leaving no pathway for alternative visions like restoration, open space, or community-driven projects.
Why you must attend:
- Get informed about MOD 7 and how it impacts you
- Learn how to write an effective submission before the deadline
- Help protect our community from unchecked industrial encroachment
- Be part of a growing movement that believes Kurnell deserves better
- This is your home. This is our future. And now is the time to stand together.
Please join us and bring along a friend or neighbour. Together, we can send a clear message: Kurnell is not an industrial dumping ground — our community deserves a voice in its future.
See you Wednesday night.
