Kuna is a loving sweet dog who was adopted and has lived with his current owner for 5 years. During that time he has lived in a rural household with several cats and dogs showing no signs of aggression. Recently, the police were called on Kuna and the new puppy Reggie by the neighbors for trespassing. The animals' owner was home and able to talk to the police to agree that the charges for the dogs at large and unlicensed would be dropped if an enclosure was built and the dogs were better contained.
Adhering to the police direction he began to keep the dogs contained by only allowing them out on a leash. However, the next day while the owner was trying to gather tools for the enclosure, Kuna discovered that the window was not latched and managed to nuzzle it open; escaping with Reggie behind him and went straight for the sheep enclosure. Sadly, he was able to draw blood on one of the sheep. The police were then called again and both of the dogs were taken into custody.
The owner returned to an empty house heartbroken and worried finding a ticket on his door stating the dogs were in custody. Reggie was released the next day but Kuna was held on a 10 day quarantine.
The owner was informed that he would need to cover the neighbor's vet bill, which he promptly did and as well cover the expense of the charges plus a 10 day quarantine which he agreed to.
A few days later the police returned to inform the owner that the courts are leaning towards euthanizing Kuna because he MIGHT be a threat to the livestock in the area. The owner was asked for signature to allow euthanization which he refused.
Kuna is now being held until his court date on the 24th March, making that a months long sentence!!
The shelter currently holding Kuna has said that he is very well behaved dog. The no kill shelter where Kuna was adopted from has also said that they are more than willing to take Kuna back to save his life. The owner is willing to make the changes to keep Kuna.
He's a super loving, wonderful dog but the call of nature towards the livestock was more than Kuna could resist even when an enclosure was in the process of being built.
The owner wasn't given enough time before the call of nature took ahold of him and now here we are asking for your signature to help save Kuna's life and to rehome him to a place where the call of nature will not be a problem.
Please help us save Kuna!!
