Dear All,

thank you yet again as our petition numbers close in on 3500 ! If you have not yet shared the petition or haven't shared it recently with friends or family on social media, please do so, every share helps grow our cause to stop this inappropriate development.

Could we please ask you to help us again now ?

Now is the time to email Minister of Planning Sonya Kilkenny and Adam Henson (Head of Department) to express your concerns about this development and it's impact on our tiny hamlet of Kongwak. We feel now is a good time to email, because the developers permit application is only at a pre-application stage and we would like the Minister to know our thoughts before deciding if it should proceed.

Could all signees please email them at the following addresses:

sonya.kilkenny@parliament.vic.gov.au

adam.hanson@dewlp.vic.gov.au

Please DO express how you feel about the prospects of this development ruining the amenity of the tiny hamlet of Kongwak, but if you need any prompters you are welcome to cut and paste from the following list of key points:

  • I object to the development of a significant wedding and entertainment venue in the tiny hamlet of Kongwak. The size and scope of the development is just inappropriate for this location and will ruin the amenity for the permanent residents of Kongwak. The hamlet is isolated and unserviced and has a population of only 50 people.
  • I object to the construction of 39 cabins in farm paddocks. The noise and appearance will ruin the amenity of Kongwak, population just 50. There are only 28 residences in Kongwak hamlet.
  • I object to septic tank processing of human waste in the flood prone paddocks just 20 m from a permanent tributary to Foster Creek. The paddocks run with water throughout Spring and Winter.
  • I object to the developers plans to cross Foster Creek with a sewage pipe. The creek is flood prone and tree falls are common.
  • I object to a noisy late night 130 seat wedding venue to be built just 40 m from  the nearest houses. I object to the destruction of a local home for a car park.
  • I object to the impact of noise, traffic, parking and late night patron behaviour on the tiny hamlet of Kongwak. We need our quiet spaces, keep Kongwak a hamlet.
  • I object to any plans by the developers that might come close to or affect the historic (1918) Avenue of Honour trees in Kongwak.
  • I object to this development overwhelming the current population of Kongwak. The development will multiply the population of Kongwak by more than 4 times.
  • I am not against any development just the inappropriate size and scope of THIS one. The development should be located on a main tourist route, and should not be constructed in a tiny hamlet, by city based developers at the expense of local residents.

Thanks for considering our request to email the Minister and her Director of Department. We appreciate your support.

Regards
