Save koala habitat in Bellbird Park, QLD!

The issue

The Brentwood Forest development at Bellbird Park is clear-felling known koala habitat, with the consent of the Ipswich City Council. This petition calls on the developer, AVID Property Group, and the Ipswich City Council to guarantee (as a minimum) the preservation of a vegetation corridor along the northern boundary of the estate, between the gas and oil pipelines. Some of this corridor - which residents had previously been told would be preserved - was destroyed by the developer last week. In response to enquiries about this clearing, Ipswich City Council has advised: "the recreation corridor is generally acquired but is subject to shifting boundary yet to be identified for the northern extent with future assessment." This petition also calls on the developer to reinstate the vegetation it destroyed last week. Koalas have been seen in and near this corridor as recently as 26 October 2016 (the photo was taken of koala on land adjacent to the corridor on 25 October 2016).
