Kimbo is a three-year-old Great Pyrenees at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society, and he may not have long left.

Kimbo nipped someone who reached into his kennel. Dylan Moore, Senior Director of Santa Fe Animal Shelter Operations, says the shelter couldn't place him safely. "We have had a discussion about Kimbo, and the decision was that we cannot find placement for Kimbo, and he is unsafe in the shelter, and he is suffering in our care," Moore told KOAT.

A rescue group in Colorado already knows Kimbo's story and has offered to take him immediately, says supporter Kimberly Roman. "There is a rescue group out of Colorado that know the whole story, that have stepped up to the plate and are willing to take him immediately," she told KOAT.

The shelter says euthanasia isn't formally scheduled, though Kimbo may be on a list for it. Supporters worry he could be put down as early as Monday. "Kimbo is stressed out, but he's a very kind dog," said Maureen O'Brien, a supporter who gathered in Santa Fe for him.
