I was ten feet into the crosswalk when this van, pulling out of the school parking lot, started to enter the crosswalk after this student started walking into the crosswalk.
I was already in the crosswalk walking towards the van, and the van STILL entered the crosswalk. Not even looking to see the kid.
Here's more information on what AASD was supposed to have done to this crosswalk THREE YEARS AGO: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cqhgjog10jbzc1o/Appleton-Action-Plan-FINAL-Draft-.pdf?dl=0
That document also shows ALL of the AASD elementary schools and middle schools plans for safety improvements regarding school zones and transportation.
You will notice with Ferber, this crosswalk was supposed to be painted, the parking lot used as a drop off and pick up zone, managed by staff to keep kids safer and the flow of traffic moving; in addition, the staff members were to be more present and responsive about safety.
I wonder if the other schools have followed through on their assigned tasks for improving safety during transportation in school zones?
