The Issue

I am a student of Job Corps, and I do NOT want to see over 25,000 students face devastating consequences, potentially even losing their lives and means of support. Job Corps offers a critical pathway for countless young people, providing them not only with education and vocational training but also with shelter and life skills that many lack due to their circumstances. For many of us, Job Corps is more than just a service; it is a lifeline that bridges the gap between uncertainty and a successful future.

Imagine a community where thousands of students, once filled with dreams and aspirations, are left homeless and without direction. The closure of Job Corps means not only the loss of educational opportunities but also shelter, meals, and support systems that are vital for everyday living. These young individuals, often from challenging backgrounds, rely on the holistic support offered by Job Corps to rise above these challenges and carve a better future for themselves.

Moreover, the dedicated staff who tirelessly work to educate, mentor, and inspire students would find their livelihoods jeopardized. These professionals are not just employees; they are mentors and role models who make impactful contributions, nurturing the potential within each student.

The proposed shutdown of these centers cannot be the solution. Alternatives such as seeking additional funding, re-evaluating cost structures, or engaging public-private partnerships could ensure Job Corps continues to operate effectively. We need innovative solutions that keep Job Corps alive and thriving, rather than closing doors on a program that works.

A world without Job Corps is one where too many dreams go unfulfilled, and potential is wasted. We must take a stand against this outcome. Sign the petition to protect our futures and support the continuance of Job Corps for students and staff alike. Together, we can fight for what's right and ensure that no student has to end their educational journey due to circumstances beyond their control. Let's keep the doors of Job Corps open to those who need it most. Sign and support the cause now. FRIENDS OF JOB CORPS: YOU CAN GO TO CONGRESS.GOV & GET THE NAMES OF YOUR LEADERS. TELL YOUR ELECTED OFFICIAL! Phone the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A operator will connect you directly w/the Senate office you request.
