Composting update! Sheds are open for food waste drop off until end of August...

The city will  pick up food waste from the sheds until the end of August because they are still under contract with their original vendor. This means you CAN drop off your kitchen scraps at ALL Jersey City shed locations thru August! 

The Community Compost Company will start their $20/month resident program for ONLY the Riverview shed on September 1, provided they have enough interest. The shed will be locked starting Sept 1 and they will provide a combination to those who register. They hope to expand to other locations after the pilot. You are  still welcome to drop off your food scraps in our garden (285 Ogden Ave.) from 10am-2pm on weekends, free. Please see a volunteer at the garden.

Jersey City is working on a new plan for 2027 -- we don't know what that plan is yet. We encourage you to reach out to the city to let them know you support composting!
