As you all know, Jersey City compost collection has ended. Community Compost Company has started a fee-based resident program for ONLY the Riverview shed outside our garden. They have lowered the price to $16 dollars/month, a 20% discount. CCC will refund early subscribers who joined at the higher price. They want to expand to other locations, but can only do so if there is enough interest. “We will start service at Hamilton Park and/or Brunswick when we reach a minimum of 15 people and we have an identified neighborhood contact person for that park.”
You must register with CCC to join this program. Subscribers get a combination code to the shed and can drop food scraps there any time. CCC has committed to provide the service to the Riverview shed for a minimum of one year - 9/30/2026 to 9/30/2027.

You are welcome to drop off your food scraps in our garden (285 Ogden Ave.) from 10am-2pm on weekends, free. Please see a volunteer at the garden. If it is raining or the garden is closed, we will try to leave a bin outside during those hours, but we can’t guarantee it as we are an all-volunteer garden. We will also accept bags of leaves (browns) during our open hours.
Jersey City Recycling (who used to manage the city program) has told us that the city is trying to come up with a new plan for composting in 2027. We don't know anything further about it. We encourage you to reach out to the city to let them know you support composting!
