The village has approved the developers proposed amendments and the Jackson Storage Building will now be demolished.
The Jackson Square Antique Mall is expected to relocate out of the neighborhood.
Thank you to everyone who signed and attended a meeting. I wrote this petition sitting in my car in the O'Reillys Auto Parts parking lot, I figured it'd get a solid 200-300 signatures. I also figured we'd lose, but better to try and fail than not try at all. I know, not a particularly profound sentiment. But the truth is, having other financial interests in our neighborhood (The Elm restaurant in Downtown LaGrange), I can only assume the developers wished to get this done as quietly as possible. This helped to make that impossible. This petition made its way to NBC, CBS, ABC, Crain's, and more, mostly due to the work and dedication of the many wonderful people I've met since this started. CBS actually had cameras in the meeting and conducted interviews in front of the building. I'm sure they weren't thrilled with that!
Above is a link to a Patch article written by Johnathon Robinson, a next door neighbor to the development. The treatment and massive disregard he and his family have been subject to through all of this is genuinely inconceivable and he is taking steps to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please sign his petitions embedded in the article. The recommended provisions could also one day go a long way in preserving our village's charm and identity, or what's left of it at least.

This is the link to a stream of the meeting and vote. I strongly encourage you to watch some of the public comments (begins at 20:16) to fully understand the many different reasons this is a complete and utter disaster for our community. This goes much further than just historical preservation.
This is a major loss. Shame on all responsible.
I will post a final update when a demolition date is set. Again, thank you so much.
