Save Izzy from euthanization by Harrison County Animal Control

The Issue

Our beloved furry family member, Izzy, a 7-pound dog with a heart full of love, is facing an unimaginable fate. Izzy has been part of our family for six wonderful years, and she has shared a special bond with my 12-year-old daughter, sleeping by her side every night. She has become a comforting presence in our lives and has been in countless treasured family photos.

Recently, Izzy was involved in an isolated incident with my son Brody, where she bit him. It was a single incident, and though concerning, it does not define her as dangerous. Our veterinarian, familiar with Izzy's behavior and temperament, assured us she does not pose a danger to anyone. She is a small, indoor dog, whose rabies vaccination unfortunately lapsed, but this is no reason to take away her chance at life.

Harrison County Animal Control is proposing to euthanize Izzy, denying her the opportunity for rehabilitation and the chance to continue being a loved part of our family. We have already planned to enroll her in obedience school to ensure better behavior management. This is not just about us—it’s about preventing unnecessary harm to a creature that has brought only joy.

We implore the Harrison County Animal Control to reconsider and spare Izzy’s life. She deserves a second chance, just like anyone else. Giving her this chance not only saves a life, but also supports a family who deeply cares for her and is committed to her betterment.

Please sign this petition to urge the authorities to recognize that even beloved pets deserve compassion and forgiveness. Help us save Izzy and keep our family whole.
