Save the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at New York Presbyterian Columbia!
NYP has proposed to permanently close the acute inpatient rehabiliation unit at NYP-Columbia Medical Center.
Acute rehabilitation is a crucial step from hospital to home for people who have suffered from serious illness or injury, including strokes and transplant patients.
Closing NYP Columbia's rehab means 25% less acute rehabilitation beds in the entire New York Presbyterian hospital system.
We lose the ONLY acute rehab serving Washington Heights, Inwood, the South Bronx, and Riverdale.
97.5% of patients who come to this rehab received their care at NYP Columbia. Where will they go?
More people will go home from the hospital without adequate resources for rehab or training for family and caregivers.
