Sep 15, 2014 — https://Change.org/JeepFires In today's NY Times article "Regulator Slow To Respond To Deadly Vehicle Defects" (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/15/business/regulator-slow-to-respond-to-deadly-vehicle-defects.html?_r=2), they refer to the recent inaction of NHTSA in protecting us against Chrysler Jeep... "In one recent case, the agency threatened to flex its statutory muscles but in the end backed down. In June 2013 the agency asked Chrysler to conduct a recall of about 2.7 million Jeep Grand Cherokees and Jeep Liberties because of the gas tank problem. If the automaker did not comply, the agency said, it would publish a public notice describing the defects, its investigation into the matter and the scheduling of a public meeting. After the public meeting, N.H.T.S.A. could have legally forced a recall. But the agency struck a deal with Chrysler instead." Over 3,000 people have signed a new petition asking those at NHTSA and the US DOT, who are responsible for the latest Jeep fire death, nearly a year after the so-called "recall," be arrested for homicide.
