The International Muslim Organization of Toronto (IMO) Mosque at 65 Rexdale Blvd, Etobicoke, Ontario, is moving toward being demolished for profit.  We are at risk of losing a Community Funded Mosque to those seeking to profit from what our donations have paid for.

The redevelopment is to be comprised of an income-based housing complex for the general public with commercial storefronts with a "prayer area".  Today our Mosque of 60,000 feet with a gymnasium will be reduced to a prayer area based on a presentation from April 1, 2022, which will not be sufficient to house Jummah namaz let alone Eid namaz.  

Today a $1.5 million charge resides on our Mosque.  This charge is registered by a Company with the same address as a Board Member's Sister's home.

They will not let you run for a position on the Board.

FINANCIAL ISSUES

$4+ Million misspent + $1.5 Million in debt + $75,000 yearly interest payments 

The Board at IMO is addicted to RIBA.  IMO was purchased in 1998 for 1.8 million with debt.  They have not stopped borrowing and misspending OUR MONEY.

Gymnasium over budget by $3 Million:  Our analysis of Canada Revenue Agency data shows the INCOMPLETE Gymnasium and Janazah area that was originally budgeted at $1.2 million (construction was to have been completed circa 2015) and funded by OUR DONATIONS has now cost $4+ million.  

$1.5 million in debt:  In 2015 IMO had a debt charge of what we believe to be approximately $1 million attached to the property by https://epireon.com/ .  This was replaced by a charge on 2019/03/01 in the amount of $1.5 million by 2681477 Ontario Limited (per Land Registry search) - the registered office of the Company is a Board Member's Sister's house.  We estimate IMO incurred $500,000+ in interest costs between 2015 and 2019.

$75,000 Annual Interest Payment for Nothing:  The debt charge from 2019/03/01 in the amount of $1.5 million by 2681477 Ontario Limited was due on 2021/03/01.  There is no record of discharge.  We conclude it still costs IMO at least $75,000 per year (guess where your donations are going) to service.  

Could the above financial mismanagement be the reason President Omar is so motivated to turn our Masjid into a piggy bank?
