This petition favors the sale of Hoboken University Medical Center (HUMC) to Hold Co. Without this transaction HUMC will fail, creditors will be owed millions and taxpayers will be on the hook for HUMC's $52 million in debt. We urge the NJ Dept of Health to approve this transaction.HUMC is Hoboken's only acute care facility. HUMC has been losing millions of dollars for several years and will fail in one to two years or sooner unless someone can save it. Hold Co, the operator of Bayonne Medical Center is willing to purchase HUMC and affiliate it with their hospital providing a more cost effective synergy. Hold Co will provide $20 million to pay off outstanding bills and an additional $20m for much needed capital improvements and renovations. Additionally they will pay off the $52 million in HUMC debt which is contingently owed by Hoboken taxpayers.

Recently, a collusion of forces have set out to block this sale in the interest of local partisan politics.  Their objections are based on political rivalries and not in facts.  Please do not be swayed by their lobbyists and do what’s best for the residents of Hoboken.

Please help save HUMC and the Hoboken taxpayer by approving this sale.
