We’re heartbroken.

Despite hope, headlines, and hundreds of voices standing up for Canada’s oldest department store — the last six Hudson’s Bay stores will officially begin liquidation sales tomorrow, April 25.

These six stores — Yorkdale, Hillcrest, Queen Street Toronto, Downtown Montreal, Laval, and Pointe-Claire — were the final holdouts. The final symbols of what Hudson’s Bay once was — a cornerstone of communities, families, and small businesses across Canada.

And now, even they are being dismantled.

This is more than just the end of a retailer. It’s the unraveling of a piece of Canadian history.

For vendors like us at Romali, and for thousands of employees, artisans, and shoppers — this isn’t just about inventory. It’s about memories. It’s about identity. And it’s about being left behind without answers, dignity, or real support.

We’ve done everything we could. But the system wasn’t built to save people like us — small business owners, young entrepreneurs, local creators.

Tomorrow, we say goodbye to more than just stores. We say goodbye to a legacy.
