Save Houghton Lodge Dairy Farm!!!!

Save Houghton Lodge Dairy Farm!!!!
The Issue
Houghton Lodge Dairy Farm has been integral to the rich tapestry of the Houghton on the Hill, Stoughton, and Thurnby/Bushby villages for generations. The cows grazing upon its fields have become part of our landscape and the heart of our homes. This farm is not just about livestock and land; it's about legacy and the enduring spirit of those who work it. Farm Manager, Jack Springthorpe follows in the steadfast footsteps of his grandfather, Barry Watkins, who worked this farm straight out of the army at the age of 16 to retirement (1953-2006!)
In recent years, Jack and his dedicated team have driven the business in a positive and upward direction, nurturing not only the health and wellbeing of their stock but also fostering a close-knit community bond. They supply Arla UK with just over 10,000 litres of milk a day and are breeding beef calves whilst following the rigorous standards of the Red Tractor assurance scheme. Despite their success, all of this is now at risk.
Houghton Lodge Dairy Farm deserves to remain a beacon of our countryside, preserving the heritage and natural beauty of the area. Losing this farm would not only mean losing a significant part of our village history but also the end of a thriving business that embodies hard work, resilience, and sustainability.
We call upon the land management company, Bidwells, to renew the tenancy of this farm. And we also call upon members of the community to step up and support measures that will protect Houghton Lodge Dairy Farm.
Let's rally together to secure the future of Houghton Lodge Dairy Farm. Sign this petition to show your support and urge decision-makers to take immediate action! Together, we can try and stop another UK Farm from closure and protect an essential part of our heritage and keep it flourishing for years to come.
