The Issue

Hopkins County Humane Needs YOUR Help!

The community of Hopkins County and the surrounding areas rely on just one animal shelter, that being the Hopkins County Humane Society. Without it, there will be absolutely nowhere for people to safely surrender animals in the county. Unfortunately, the shelter’s building is scheduled for demolition in just 30 days. I personally spoke with one of the staff members today, and she shared that they are hoping to build a new shelter. However, nothing is guaranteed. In the meantime, not only are the animals losing their shelter, the dedicated staff members are also losing their jobs. This petition is meant to raise awareness and urge the City of Madisonville and Hopkins County to take action within this 30 day period, whether that’s providing a temporary facility or funding a brand-new shelter following the demolition.

Nonetheless, I personally am just a bystander who wants to help. While there have been mixed reports about whether a rebuild is happening, this petition is here to push for a guaranteed future for our local shelter — not just “maybes” or “hopefullys.”

If you or someone you know is looking to adopt, now is the time. There are still several dogs and cats at the shelter waiting for loving homes, and their adoption fees have been completely waived, meaning they’re free to adopt.

Please call the shelter at (270) 821-8965, visit their Facebook page at “Hopkins County Humane Society,” or check out their website at www.hopkinscountyhumanesociety.com

also, if you're looking to donate to them, you can from their website and their Facebook.

Let’s come together as a community and make sure these animals — and the people who care for them arent left behind.
