The Friends of Cudell Commons Park group is having a press conference on Tuesday, October 24th, 4pm in the Northeast corner of Cudell Commons Park near the Bald Cypress Tree to introduce the public to Gail Lundberg, heir to Frank and Emma Cudell. Gail will read a statement she prepared denouncing the City's Plans that ignore her relatives’ wishes and will be available for questions.
“I am Gail Lundberg. I am a descendent of Emma Mueller Cudell, wife of Frank Cudell, and Jacob Mueller, Emma's father…Having been made aware of this ongoing dispute, I stand in support of preserving Cudell Commons as a green space as clearly defined by Frank Cudell in his will of 1914 as well as the 1906 deed…Their intent was clear and undeniable and cannot nor should not be minimized or ignored.”
In 1906, Frank Cudell gifted the land in question to the City of Cleveland to remain a park forever, as stated in this recorded deed to the City, see: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CGhEd47_y3KOUmypI8tBsysOdnj6QmIB filed with the County Auditor and signed by then Chief Engineer of Parks William Stinchcomb and City Solicitor Newton D. Baker.
