Save High School Gymnastics in Anchorage
Save High School Gymnastics in Anchorage
The Issue
I have always had a deep desire to compete in gymnastics. But due to the financial issues of joining a regular team, high school gymnastics will provide the only pathway to fulfill this dream. The potential decision by the Anchorage School District (ASD) to cut high school gymnastics would shatter mine, and many other students', dreams. High school sports, specifically gymnastics, serve as an essential platform for us as students to not only excel in sport but also build character, health, and camaraderie. Around 460,000 student-athletes participate nationwide in school sports each year as per the National Federation of State High School Associations. Cutting gymnastics would decrease these opportunities, impacting our community adversely. Please help me in urging ASD to rethink their decision, and uphold the value and importance of school gymnastics in Anchorage. Sign this petition to save high school gymnastics in our town.
